The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a return for the insolent, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
