He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
