The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
