Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
