And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
