The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a few from later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
