Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups set at hand. 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
