The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
