1/2 Hizb 45

۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
