The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 arise, and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
