He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fearfully, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
