(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
