The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
