The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
