Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 A curse shall be on you till the Day of Recompense' 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
