'Aad denied the messengers 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 gardens and fountains. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 [But] they answered. "It is all one to us whether thou preachest [something new] or art not of those who [like to] preach. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 And we are not to be punished." 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
