Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 By oath of this clear Book. 2 Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night - Lo! We are ever warning - 3 Therein is decreed every affair of wisdom 4 By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations), 5 (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 7 There is only One Lord. It is He who gives life and causes things to die. He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers. 8 Yet they play about in doubt. 9 WAIT, THEN, for the Day when the skies shall bring forth a pall of smoke which will make obvious [the approach of the Last Hour,] 10 That will envelop the people. This will be a painful punishment. 11 Our Lord! remove from us the punishment; surely we are believers. 12 How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger. 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Indeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief]. 15 On the Day whereon We assault them with the greatest assault, verily We shall take vengeance. 16 ۞ We had certainly tested the people of the Pharaoh before them to whom a noble Messengers had come, saying, 17 (saying:) 'Be obedient to me O worshipers of Allah. I am your honest Messenger. 18 And that do not exalt yourselves against Allah, surely I will bring to you a clear authority: 19 And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me. 20 And if you do not believe me, then leave me' 21 (But they were aggressive), so he [Musa (Moses)] called upon his Lord (saying): "These are indeed the people who are Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.)." 22 So go forth with My servants by night; surely you will be pursued: 23 and leave the sea becalmed [between thee and Pharaoh's men]: for, verily, they are a host destined to be drowned!" 24 How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people] left. 25 And fields and stately mansions, 26 And the comfort they enjoyed. 27 Such was their end, and what had been theirs We gave to other people to inherit. 28 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they allowed any respite. 29
