The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
