Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the One Wrapped in piety! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 We are about to reveal to you a mighty word. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 Leave Me to those who cry lies, those prosperous ones, and respite them a little, 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
