He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and purified. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
