The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And the swollen sea, 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
