The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He has created man: 3 and He taught him speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
