The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
