The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
