Say: "Who could protect you, by night or by day, from the Most Gracious?" And yet, from a remembrance of their Sustainer do they stubbornly turn away! 42 Or do they have lords of their own besides Us who can defend them? But they are not able to help themselves, nor can they find protection against Us. 43 Yet We bestowed the good things [of life] upon their fathers for a great length of time. But do they not see how We are shrinking their borders? Is it they who will prevail? 44 Say, "I do but warn you according to revelation": But the deaf will not hear the call, (even) when they are warned! 45 And if a breath of the torment of thy Lord were to touch them, they will say: woe unto us! we have been wrong-doers. 46 We shall fix the scales of justice on the Day of Resurrection, so that none will be wronged in the least; and even if it were equal to a mustard seed in weight We shall take it (into account). We are sufficient for computation. 47 In the past We granted to Moses and Aaron the criterion (for judgment), and a Light and a Message for those who would do right,- 48 Those who fear their Lord without seeing Him, while they are afraid of the Hour. 49 And this is a blessed reminder that We have sent down. Will you then deny it? 50
