۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 When he said to his father and his people, “What are these idols before whom you squat (worshipping)?” 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said: "Are you speaking in earnest, or only jesting?" 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They said: Have you done this to our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 Then were they confounded with shame: (they said), "Thou knowest full well that these (idols) do not speak!" 65 (So Abraham) said: "Then why do you worship something apart from God that cannot profit you or do you harm? 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 and We saved him and Lot and brought him to the land upon which We had bestowed Our blessings for all the people of the world. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac, and Jacob as a grandson. Each of them We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
