The Pharaoh said to the chiefs around him: "He is certainly a clever magician. 34 who seeks to expel you from your land by his sorcery. What is your counsel' 35 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait a while, and send unto all cities heralds 36 Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician." 37 So the magicians were assembled at a stated time and place on an appointed day. 38 and the people were told: "Will you join the assembly? 39 Belike we may follow the magicians if they are the winners? 40 When the magicians came, they asked Pharaoh, "Shall we have a reward, if we are the winners?" 41 He said: yea; and ye shall verily then be of those brought nigh. 42 Musa said unto them: cast whatsoever ye have to cast. 43 So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and said: "By the might of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), it is we who will certainly win!" 44 Then Moses cast down his staff and it swallowed up their lying invention, 45 The magicians fell down prostrate, 46 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 47 the Sustainer of Moses and Aaron!" 48 Pharaoh said: "You accepted the word of Moses even before I granted you the leave to do so. Surely he is your chief who has taught you magic. Soon shall you come to know. I shall cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides and shall crucify all of you." 49 They said: "We do not care, for we are bound to return to our Lord, 50 Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers." 51
