And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 You and your fathers? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
