Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 It behoveth them not, nor they can. 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 and be kind to your believing followers. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
