Victory (Al-Fatt-h)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(O Prophet), surely We have granted you a clear victory 1 That Allah may forgive thee thy faults of the past and those to follow; fulfil His favour to thee; and guide thee on the Straight Way; 2 And help you with surpassing help. 3 It is He who sent down the Shechina (tranquillity) into the hearts of the believers, that they might add faith to their faith -- to God belong the hosts of the heavens and the earth; God is All-knowing, All-wise -- 4 And that He may admit men and women who believe into gardens with rivers running by, to live for ever there, and absolve their evil, -- This, in the sight of God, will be the great fulfilment -- 5 And [that] He may punish the hypocrite men and hypocrite women, and the polytheist men and polytheist women - those who assume about Allah an assumption of evil nature. Upon them is a misfortune of evil nature; and Allah has become angry with them and has cursed them and prepared for them Hell, and evil it is as a destination. 6 To God belong the hosts of the heavens and the earth; God is All-mighty, All-wise. 7 (O Prophet), We have sent you forth as a witness, as a bearer of good news, and as a warner 8 That you may believe in Allah and His Apostle and may aid him and revere him; and (that) you may declare His glory, morning and evening. 9 Those who swear allegiance to you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), do indeed in fact swear allegiance to Allah; Allah's Hand* of Power is above their hands; so whoever breaches his oath, has breached his own greater promise; and whoever fulfils the covenant he has with Allah – so very soon Allah will bestow upon him a great reward. (Used as a metaphor.) 10
