The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 [an angel] endowed with surpassing power, who in time manifested himself in his true shape and nature, 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
