Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
