Say, [Prophet], "I am only a warner. There is no god but God, the One, the All-Powerful, 65 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all-mighty, all-forgiving." 66 Say: "This is a momentous message, 67 from which you are turning away. 68 I had no knowledge of the Highest Chiefs when they disputed; 69 I have only received revelation to give you plain warning. 70 When your Lord told the angels, "I will create a mortal out of clay, 71 and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall you down before him in prostration!" 72 Then the angels, all of them, prostrated themselves before Adam 73 except iblis (satan, the father of the jinn), he became too proud, for he was one of the unbelievers. 74 God said, "Satan, what prevented you from prostrating yourself to what I created with My own Hands? Were you overcome by arrogance, or are you of those who think [only] of themselves as exalted?" 75 He said: I am better than he: me Thou hast created of fire, and him Thou hast created of clay. 76 He said: “Get out of here; surely you are accursed, 77 And surely My curse is on you to the day of judgment. 78 He said: My Lord! then respite me to the day that they are raised. 79 He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved 80 Until the Day of the time well-known." 81 He (satan) said: 'I swear by Your Might, that I will seduce all of them 82 Other than the chosen ones among Your creatures." 83 He (i.e. Allah) said: “This is the Truth -- and I only speak the Truth -- 84 “That I will fill hell with you and with those among them who follow you, all together.” 85 (O Prophet), tell them: “I do not ask you for any recompense for the performance of this task; nor am I given to affectation. 86 This is only a warning for mankind. 87 You will come to know its truth in time." 88
