The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and shade extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for those on the Right, 38
