The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
