The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But save him who fears 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 They do not expect any reward 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
