But none save a few youths declared their faith in Moses, [while others held back] for fear that Pharaoh and his nobles would persecute them. Pharaoh was high and mighty in the land. And one who transgressed all bounds. 83 Moses said, "O my people; if you believe in God, [and] if you have surrendered yourselves to Him, then in Him alone put your trust." 84 So they said: On Allah we rely: O our Lord! make us not subject to the persecution of the unjust people: 85 Save us, through Your Mercy, from the unbelieving nation' 86 And We revealed to Musa and his brother, saying: Take for your people houses to abide in Egypt and make your houses places of worship and keep up prayer and give good news to the believers. 87 And Moses said, "Our Lord, indeed You have given Pharaoh and his establishment splendor and wealth in the worldly life, our Lord, that they may lead [men] astray from Your way. Our Lord, obliterate their wealth and harden their hearts so that they will not believe until they see the painful punishment." 88 [Allah] said, "Your supplication has been answered." So remain on a right course and follow not the way of those who do not know." 89 ۞ We took the Children of Israel across the sea: Pharaoh and his hosts followed them in insolence and spite. At length, when overwhelmed with the flood, he said: "I believe that there is no god except Him Whom the Children of Israel believe in: I am of those who submit (to Allah in Islam)." 90 What! now! and indeed you disobeyed before and you were of the mischief-makers. 91 So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless 92
