The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
