Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 "That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islamic Monotheism). 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 and spoke to them in public and in private." 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 when He has created you in stages? 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 and has placed the moon in them as a light, and the sun as a radiant lamp? 16 how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow, 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet, 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
