Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ SAY: "It has been revealed to me that some of the unseen beings gave ear [to this divine writ,] and thereupon said [unto their fellow-beings]: "'Verily, we have heard a wondrous discourse, 1 'It gives guidance to the Right, and we have believed therein: we shall not join (in worship) any (gods) with our Lord. 2 and that “He exalted be His Majesty has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; 3 Certainly the foolish among us say preposterous things of God. 4 And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie. 5 ‘And indeed some men among humans used to take the protection of some men among jinns, so it further increased their haughtiness.’ 6 Those people thought, like you, that God would never send down a Messenger. 7 "'And [so it happened] that we reached out towards heaven: but we found it filled with mighty guards and flames, 8 we used to take up a position to listen, but whoever listens now finds a flaming fire lying in wait for him -- 9 And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. 10 And that some of us are good and others of us are below that: we are sects following different ways: 11 Indeed, we thought that we should never be able to frustrate God in the earth, neither be able to frustrate Him by flight. 12 ‘And that when we heard the guidance, we accepted faith in it; so whoever accepts faith in his Lord, has no fear neither of any loss nor of any injustice.’ 13 Some of us have surrendered (Muslims) and some of us have deviated. Those who surrendered sought the Right Path, 14 but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" 15 [KNOW,] THEN, that if they [who have heard Our call] keep firmly to the [right] path, We shall certainly shower them with blessings abundant, 16 ‘In order to test them with it; and whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put him in a punishment that keeps on increasing.’ 17 And the prostrations are for Allah; wherefore call not along with Allah anyone. 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
