The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
