The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
