The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a few from later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
