He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you ignore him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
