۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
