The dwellers in El-Hijr cried lies to the Envoys. 80 And We gave them Our signs, and they remained averse to them. 81 They were hewing the mountains into houses, therein dwelling securely; 82 Then the shout took hold of them in the early morn. 83 And that which they were wont to count as gain availed them not. 84 We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness. 85 Your Lord is the Creator, the Knower. 86 We have indeed bestowed on you the seven oft-repeated verses and the Great Qur'an. 87 Cast not thine eyes toward that which We have let classes of them to enjoy; and grieve not over them, and lower thy wing unto the believers. 88 And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner, 89 (Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts),- 90 Those who made the Quran into shreds. 91 By your Lord We shall question them one and all 92 about what they did. 93 (O Prophet), proclaim what you are commanded, and pay no heed to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity. 94 We are surely sufficient to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 Who set up along with Allah another ilah (god), they will come to know. 96 Indeed, We know that your breast is straitened at what they say. 97 But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration. 98 and worship your Lord until what is certain [death] comes to you. 99
