So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?" 30 Say thou: wait verily I am, with you, among the waiters. 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. 34 Did they come into being without any creator? Or were they their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and earth? Nay, but they have not sure faith. 36 Or are thy Lord's treasuries in their keeping? Or are they the registrars? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Do you (Muhammad) ask them for any payment (for your preaching) which they cannot afford? 40 Or that the Ghaib (unseen) is with them, and they write it down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him! 43 Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),- 45 The Day when their guile shall not relieve them a thing, and they shall not be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a punishment beyond that. But most of them know not. 47 And be patient upon your Lord’s command, (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), for you are indeed in Our sight; and proclaim the Purity of your Lord while praising Him, whenever you stand. 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49
