Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in a lofty Garden 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
