The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 purify your garments; 4 Pollution shun! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 it scorches the skin; 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
