۞ He it is Who did create you from a single soul, and therefrom did make his mate that he might take rest in her. And when he covered her she bore a light burden, and she passed (unnoticed) with it, but when it became heavy they cried unto Allah, their Lord, saying: If thou givest unto us aright we shall be of the thankful. 189 Yet when He gave both of them (the parents) a goodly child, they set up associates with Him, in return for what He had given them. Exalted be Allah above that they associate with Him. 190 What, do they associate that which creates nothing and themselves are created, 191 They have no power to help others. nor can they help themselves. 192 If ye call them to guidance, they will not obey: For you it is the same whether ye call them or ye hold your peace! 193 Those on whom you call apart from God, are servants the likes of you; call them and let them answer you, if you speak truly. 194 Have they feet to walk with? Have they hands to punish with? Have they eyes to see with? Have they ears to hear with? Say: 'Call on your partners and then try to scheme against me. Give me no respite. 195 My Guardian is Allah, who has sent down the Book. He guards the righteous. 196 The idols which you (the pagans) worship besides God can neither help you nor themselves. 197 And if you were to call them to true guidance, they will not hear; and you observe them looking at you whereas they have no power to see.' 198 Accept the easing, order with fine jurisprudence, and avoid the ignorant. 199 If you are instigated by the Devil to evil seek refuge in God, for God hears all and knows everything. 200 Verily those who fear God think of Him when assailed by the instigations of Satan, and lo! they begin to understand, 201 Their brethren plunge them further into error and cease not. 202 And when thou bringest not a verse for them they say: Why hast thou not chosen it? Say: I follow only that which is inspired in me from my Lord. This (Qur'an) is insight from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for a people that believe. 203 So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy. 204 And remember thou thy Lord within thyself with humility and fear, without loudness in word, in the morning and evenings; and be thou not of the negligent. 205 [even] the ones [angels] who live in the presence of your Lord are not too proud to worship Him: they glorify Him and prostrate themselves before Him. ۩ 206
